How it's worked out
Pay = hours × rate for each kind of day, added up
Super = pay × 12%
For example, 20 weekday hours at $33.05 and 5 Saturday hours at the same rate is 25 × $33.05 = $826.25, and super of $99.15.
Common questions
- Where do I find my rates?
- Look up your award's pay guide on the Fair Work Ombudsman website. It lists casual rates per hour for weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Your contract or enterprise agreement may pay more. See Penalty rates.
- What's the casual loading?
- Under most awards, casuals get 25% on top of the full-time or part-time rate, instead of paid leave. If you only know the full-time rate, choose that option and the 25% is added to your weekday rate.
- What's the minimum for a casual?
- From 1 July 2026 the national minimum wage is $26.44 an hour, so an adult casual without an award gets at least $33.05 with the loading. Most awards pay more. See Minimum wages.
- My pay looks wrong. What now?
- Check your hours, breaks and rates first, then ask your employer. The Fair Work Ombudsman can help for free on 13 13 94.
